Marine Air Systems 'HHH' error code

Postby darrenlife » July 11th, 2019, 8:05 am

The air conditioner in my forward stateroom will start in cooling mode for about 5 minutes and then shut itself down while displaying HHH on the control panel that I assume is some kind of error code. Is anyone familiar with this and what I need to do to resolve it?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks! Any suggestions on how to do this? I have three other units in the boat that are operating well.

Since other ones seem to work and after you have verified good water and air flow across the condensor coil on this unit. Then may consider checking high pressure switch and freon and see what pressures your getting. high head pressure can also be caused by low freon.and If you have a passport thermostat you could check t h e program for u6 a n d see if it is set to manual reset #3 or auto reset #1 or#2. If manual you would have to reset it by turning off ac breaker at the electric panel not just turning off and on at the thermostat. The other settings would try auto reset at 90 seconds or so I think.

Ok, I assume you have one water pump for all your units. The problem unit...what is the water flow like for that unit? Has it diminhed any from the usual flow?
Have you checked your filter and behind the filter, what do the fins look like on your compressor?

Yes, air filter and compressor fins are clean. Water flow appears to usual so sounds like I may need a Freon recharge

HHH is high head pressure. This CANNOT be caused by a low refrigerant charge. It is either the system is overcharged with refrigerant, which is very unlikely unless some recently added refrigerant, or not enough heat transfer through the condenser. Either your not moving enough water or the condenser tubing is fouled on the water side and needs cleaned.

Didn't say low freon charge bUT what I did leave out is air flow. Still checking what pressures are at could give some idea of what's happening with the one unit. Since you say nothing going on with dirty coil and havING good air flow.

Low air flow will cause a LPF error not an HHH or HPF unless you are in the heating mode.

Does HHH show up then the unit shuts off, or does the unit shut off first, then try to start right back up again very shortly after for some reason, then display HHH? The compressor would encounter high head pressures if it were called to start up right after it shut down.
