BILDGE BLOWERS 560 VOYAGER

Postby Tempus Fugit » May 13th, 2013, 3:49 pm

I have a 2006 560 Voyager. I need help in trouble shooting a problem with my bilge blowers. The blowers are suppose to turn on/off anytime the engines are on/off as well as a manual on/off switch on the 12 volt panel. There are four 12 volt breakers and blowers; they all are designed to come on and off at the same time. In addition there are replays that auto start and stop these blowers when the engines are off and on. The issue is one of the blower breakers trips after about 5 minutes and then they all shut off. I could really use a wiring diagram and or description of the circuit logic and relay locations. Any help and or input is appreciated.

I have an '02 530 Vogager and I don't think my blowers ever worked. They show on the fuse panel but do not have a separate on/off switch. The mechanic looked at them but I didn't pursue the repair.

Why would the blowers be on when the engines are running? The venting should supply engine air plus ventilation air. I would think the blowers should be a manual operation only.
When running, those big diesels are moving many cubic feet per minute of ingested air.
Thanks

I'm not sure why but the blowers on my 404 run whenever the engines are running. Additional cooling perhaps?

I tend to agree with Fred. Those big diesels are air hungry. It seems like to would be robbing much need air.

Update: replaced the two port blowers and all is well. FYI the blowers supply fresh air to the bilge area forward of the fuel bulkhead. NOTE: they do run when the engines or generator is operating.

Hi all, just purchased 530 - 2000 my bilge blowers run all the time when the engines are going. I can turn the blower off when cruising by turning the starboard engine key back one notch. Just recently the port engine outlet elbow exhaust pipe completely fractured blowing hot exhaust soot into the engine room and into the port engine.(my poor new air filters) To my horror the view from the flybridge black smoke bellowing out from the transom. What a mess in the engine room, totally black soot every where including some of the wiring looms had melted with the heat. In this case the blower did a great job at the time.

BILDGE BLOWERS 560 VOYAGER

Postby Carver356 » December 1st, 2015, 11:41 pm

I have a 356 w cummins ; the blower system wiring was happily e mailed to me by the factory support team. If you have problems, either not operating or in some cases , not shutting off; I would ask for the diagram so an electrician can sort out problems.
My boat has two automotive style cooling fans as"blowers" , being diesel, traditional blowing of the bilge is not needed , they are for assisting in keeping cooler air in the machinery area.

I've owned a 2000 53 Voyager for the past 5 years and like everyone else on this thread I have been plagued with soot on the transom until that is this year when I removed those ridiculous canister air filters and replaced them with K & N 8" dia x 11 " long concentric air filters. My soot problems immediately went away. Those canister filters were starving the engine of air and exhausting un-burnt fuel (soot ). The K&N filters provided a greater surface area and hence more volume of air to enter into the turbo. Even better yet the K&N filters are made of a polymer thus allowing you to wash and re-use them keeping your maintenance cost lower. By the way I have have the Volvo TAMD 122's ( 615 hp ) .
