Defogger on Carver 560

Postby Txcruiser » December 27th, 2015, 6:12 pm

Does anyone know specifically
where the defogger heating element is located on the 560? My defogger blows only ambient air. Maybe there is a DC breaker somewhere that I am not seeing. Mine is a 2007 but it is likely the same for all years. Would appreciate any help.

If you can't find a heating element, you may want to check if it runs off hot water. Some systems do. They can either run off the engine coolant or hot water heater. These usually have a valve in the circuit that can be used to stop fluid circulation.

I don't believe there is any heat supplied to the defoggers on Carver boats. Not any that I've ever seen (worked at a dealer for 35 years). What they are meant to do is blow air at the windshield to help with the defogging. Air is supplied by a squirrel cage blower under the dash.

I was just going to say that but Kenny beat me. There is no hot air element for the defogger. It simply recirculates air from the fresh air intake and blows it it the underside of the window. The blower sits in-line in the duct work under the dash.

Thanks Lyndon and Kenny - you are correct. I thought Marquis was shutdown for the holidays but I did hear from them. Indeed there is no heating element. Appreciate your responses. Joe
