Charcoal filter on holding tank vent

Postby Agriman » June 1st, 2022, 4:03 pm

Can someone tell me if the 350 Mariner [1998] ever had a filter on the waste tank vent. After recommissioning last week I noticed a slight odor outside when flushing the head. Its difficult to follow the vent line to the exit point.

I can't help with you specific model. My 1997 boat didn't have any so I added filters to my carver 405. but keep in mind you'll never totally get rid of some smell outside when one is flushed. There's some products such as no flex digester you may consider in helping break down the waste. I've used it for several years.

Pretty sure they did not come with the filter......now someone may have installed one, I made one up and installed one on ours.
The vent line is easy......under the dinette cushion closest to the counter is a storage tub....remove the tub and climb in.....the vent line runs along the hull cross support to the hull side, up and out. I installed ours in the vertical section of the line where it goes up the hull side so no sloshing issues.....took less than 10 minutes to install.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.....

Thanks for the line location. Climbing in after the tub removal might be more then I can handle (LOL) or the getting back out again. I'll have a look today for the vent line.
