New CAR ER Owners ... need a V

Postby TonyC » March 14th, 2016, 9:30 am

Looking for a missing V replacement. Note top right corner of pic. On a 1998 350 Mariner. Approximately 2" raised black vinyl. Any ideas as to where to obtain a replacement will be appreciated. Thanks!

Contact these folks and see what they have:
http://stores.ebay.com/MK345-123?_trksid=p2047675.l2563

Also Great Lakes Skipper has a lot of OEM Carver stuff:
http://greatlakesskipper.com/

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions! I did try Great Lakes Skipper without luck. Will check out the ebay site.

Another idea is to remove the entire badge with a heat gun. Go to your local sign shop with a picture and have them cut a 3D vinyl decal. Way cheaper, no fade and easily replaceable.

Have you tried calling Carver direct or a local dealer?

Don't use a heat gun - here's a trick the body shops all use - dental floss! Just work dental floss back and forth under the letters until they release. There may be a bit of adhesive left, but GooGone will take care of it. Less chance of damage to the fiberglass or paint with floss compared to the heat gun.

...Don't use a heat gun....

Agreed. Unless you’ve done it before or given some forethought about how to use the heat gun for this type of work and the damage it can do if done wrong, you’ll be calling for a gel repair. Seen it happen many times. It’s doable, you just need to be careful and aware.
