Toggle switch breakers for Carver 3607

Postby Carver83 » October 14th, 2015, 4:40 pm

I need to replace several of the toggle switch circuit breakers from a vintage 1983 Carver......any thoughts on a place that might carry that type of inventory or a suitable replacement for the original breakers?

I need to add a breaker to one the spare slots in my DC panel. I will have to double check the dimensions but I think these look like a probable candidate.

I'd check with any former Carver Dealer Marina, a lot of these places have left over inventory, our marina has several AC breakers that were OE for our 1988 Mariner.

Is it like the one in the link feeez provided or one like the pic in the middle with a red toggle but black instead? There is a black toggle available too (see small pic under main one). These are Carling. You should be able to get info off the breaker lable. See link below.

Hello Everyone,

I cannot complain but one of the main circuit breakers has finally decided to quit working.
I have a 36 Carver 3607 1983, and I am looking for a tripple pole single toggle circuit breaker. The old one was made by AIRPAX. The hole in the main pannel is round, that in itself is a challenge.

Any hints would be very much appreciated.

You can still get Airpax (Sensata/Airpax) breakers at:
https://www.digikey.ca/
or Electrosonic in Markham Ont. https://www.e-sonic.com/en.

See if you can still get a part number off your breaker. Failing that, I'm pretty sure the main source breakers on your panel are different from the individual distribution breakers for each circuit. If that's the case and you have a hard time getting the Airpax ones, I'm pretty sure Blue Sea breakers will work. Just confirm the size, spec, terminal type, and mounting configuration.

For the rest of the breakers on the panel, see the thread linked below. I posted some part numbers for units I bought from Electrosonic and there is other information you should be aware of for the individual breakers. In my case, the part numbers are for the screw type terminals, Carver used both these and the spade terminal model so you'd have to confirm which ones you have....

Are you talking about the incoming main AC breakers? Are you sure you don't have a reverse polarity situation? In those, one of the three "breakers" is actually the reverse polarity detection and it will cause the breaker to trip and not be reset.
