2024 launch season ???

Postby Cooler » March 25th, 2024, 12:19 pm

Here we are again! Getting closer to launch season in the north. Looks like about 51 days for me. Will not need to worry about any rogue ice chunks this year. Have not had any ice, even shore ice, for at least the past month. Latest weather forcasts point to above normal temps for our area all Spring. How long before y'all launch? 8-) er

Where we store we really have no choice as "they" decide. Normally this will be around May 18th or so. Lots of prep to do as usual however my wife who helps me tremendously will have left knee replacement surgery May 13 so my help will be rather helpless for a few months. :-( This season may turn into more dock than travel depending on how quick she heals. Good news is medical procedures have come such a long way and we live in fortunate times. Regardless, really looking forward to launch this year.

Sorry to hear about your wife. Knees are the worst to recover from. Make sure she does all her PT, that is the "secret" to quality and time to recovery. If I were closer, I would come and help with your prep. My prep work is greatly reduced this spring because I had Cooler aggressively compounded last year. Just a clean and wax this season. You don't have to be the shiniest boat at the marina this season. I'll say a couple more prayers for you both each day! Good luck! 8-) er

This is our first spring as owners, we are on the list to launch next week!

It is early, a few others have already launched. Guessing we will not be doing much cruising, but we will be able to be on board and continue to make her our own. Something about a fresh season makes her feel a bit more like our boat not someone else's that we just purchased.

Need to work on that name change!

Should mention there is no ice anywhere this year and technically could launch tomorrow however the marina does not open until May 18th. Winter was the mildest and the least amount of snow I have ever seen. Definitely no spring flooding this year, may even translate to low water levels in many areas.

I removed the shrinkwrap from my boat on March 15th. This coming Friday is supposed to be 55* and sunny. I may make my first launch of the season on Friday. We'll see how it goes with the weather. Not much ice here this year either.

Looking forward to the new season.

Seaplane Steve, what are you thinking for name change? That is always a lot of fun! The warm winter issue is going to be interesting. Will it translate to low water levels? No idea. Water level at my marina looks a little lower, but not significant. Just 48 days to go before launch. 8-) er

The boat I'm buying in Stillwater MN says they will start launching April 6, and my new to me boat is going in on April 16. From there, it's going to be taken out, and delivered to lake Texoma TX. I will be in MN from 20 to 22, and then down I 35 with the train of trailers and cars. I will make a separate thread for the move.

Went to our boat. Shrink coms off this coming Saturday. Survey on the 13th.... Looked at our water levels, low. I mean, August low. Will see how this plays out for sure.
