325 fuel consumption

Postby Rocket09 » April 11th, 2016, 5:56 pm

Hello all, first am sorry if this subject has probably already been discussed At lenght but I could not researched it.

I just purchased a 1995 325, fuel tank is 160 gal, 5,7 Crusaders, we are planning to do the great loop, in the near futur but I believe there is a significant stretch of about 200 miles or a bit more in the Tennessee river or around there. Will I be able to do this with my fuel tank, I know we will have to run aroun 5 to 8 mph, the wind and currant will also be a factor but all in all Will it be doable?

And sorry for the typo but I have a french keyboard

I would definitely bring some jerry cans, but I think at 7mph or so you should be able to make it 200 mi. assuming you time the voyage carefully. You should get 1mpg or so at 20 mph, I'd think you'd be in the 1.7 range at hull speed.

You could install fuel flow meter either stand alone or with a lowrance or Garmin nmea 2000 network that would give you real time data and they don't really break the bank to purchase or install. In the meantime here is a website that is actually pretty accurate.
Give it a look see what you think

Should have put this on first response but when we purchased our 405 3yrs ago we travelled the whole length on the Tennessee River from green turtle bay marina at about river mile marker 25 to our home which is it at 486mm on the Tennessee River I would have to look back but I don't recall any stretch at 200 miles or so without fuel availability but I also carry 342 gallons. Going up stream all the way we avg .8mpg calculated during the trip. We had a great time.

From what I understand, it would be from Grafton to Cairo that there is no marina for gaz for approximate 250 miles.
