Port side engine hatch removal

Postby RyDrew » October 16th, 2025, 10:58 am

New to me 2004 360 Mariner
Has anyone figured out a trick to remove the Port side engine hatch? It will not clear the transom door hinge without sliding it to Starboard which only goes part way before getting squeezed by the curved cockpit. I'm 70 years old and really struggled to get it off.
The Starboard was no picnic either but I was able to hinge it up from the front resting the aft portion against the transom.
Thanks

No comments or suggestions, but here is what I figured out.
Lift using the retractable handle in the middle of the right side about an inch. Then grab the front portion near the sliding door. Lift with the back section hinged against the transom but only enough to pivot forward to clear the hinge. Then slide using only the rear port corner in contact with the transom channel. What a ridiculous design.

I'd like to see the no-word pictogram for this procedure!
Thanks
