Window Diagram/Blueprint

Postby JohnWD » April 8th, 2026, 4:18 pm

Hi. I have a 1995 Carver I bought October 2026. I just got into my first downpour ICW East coast Florida and have major leaking in side windows. The outside tracks have all been caulked and windows are not movable. I just opened up the drain hole on the worse one and I have removed the inside wood trim on the fiberglass frame the aluminum frame sits in. On the inside was a vinyl wrap wood piece under the fiberglass which is rotten. There is even more wood that I can see bolts with nuts and it is punky and water dripping from them too.
I can't see what is happening with these to see how to repair. Any diagrams/pictures of how this is put together. I'm on America's Great Loop and am disappointed that this is happening because I'm moving pretty quickly. Working up to the Great Lakes Midland area for end of June.
Any help or direction would be much appreciated. I attached pictures

When I had a 3607 (similar window track), I would occasionally get water coming in around the windows during a big storm. The "cat whiskers" around the windows were very aged and not working well, so I decided to replace them.

What I found when I dug the old ones out was that there was so much crap in the bottom of the channel under the windows that no water really could get to those slit drains at either end, so it would just overflow the track. Cleaned out all that crap and put new "cat whiskers" in and NEVER had a water problem again.

You could probably tape up the windows on the inside (from window to track to seal it) and then use a pressure washer outside to blow a lot of that crap out, without taking everything apart. Then remove the tape on the inside.
