Engine room Fire Suppression - Conntected to Engine run?

Post by kgarguilo »

Hello everyone, hope you are all well and getting out on the water.

On my 99 Carver 406 I have a FireBoy CG2-475 Halon fire suppression system with a Test button at the helm. Press the test button and it blinks red and piezo horn makes noise. Disconnect wires from the System and the Test button Illuminates and Piezo Horn makes noise. I was getting it inspected today by a local company and the guy asked me if it was wired to kill the engine power if the suppression system was activated. Does anyone know if in 99 Carver 406 was wired the suppression system through the engine starting switch? Below are pictures of the unit in the engine room.

I am guessing I could trace those wires but, that may be difficult not knowing if they would go to the helm or the Mefi 3 Controls? Any guidance would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

More info just in case it matters:
  • Mercruiser 7.4L MPI MIE V-8 gasoline naturally aspirated engine
    Kohler 8E 120V 60HZ gasoline

I've seen that feature usually hooked up to diesel application, gassers not so much but who knows what was done in the past, the options paid for from factory or at the dealership when she was first sold.
