I like the big red one, maybe could actually power the boat too.

I already know the answer he will give me. I'll just keep the old getto blasters and pop them back in if I sell the boat. May even take the time to disassemble them and change bearings ;-)

There is in my opinion one benefit of noisy blowers.......you know they are on, still have to prove air flow but still tough to forget them. A little light is no benefit except to prove power. So I don't know if there is such thing on a boat as a sail switch ( like on your furnace to prove power venter air flow )....now that could be a benefit especially single handling. Wire one of those to an led, now that would be good for those rare quiet blowers or while on the bridge.

Funny this never dawned on me after all these years until this thread, I would just go down and put my hand over the vent......hmmmmm... :help:
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

DISCLAIMER!!! I CANNOT CONFIRM THIS IS BILGE SAFE. BEING I HAVE DIESELS, THERE IS NO FUME EXPLOSION ISSUE HOWEVER IN A GASOLINE APPLICATION THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS IF IT IS NOT SPARK PROOF!!! TECHNICALLY CHOOSING A BRUSHLESS MOTOR DESIGN MAKES THIS SAFE HOWEVER I CANNOT CONFIRM THIS. BUILD AND USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!

I was inspired by the BadAss unit linked to in post number 3 of this thread. 3D printed the adapters for 120mm fans which are available by the hundreds as this is standard sizing for these units. Found a 12vdc unit that produces 200 cfm @ 1.6A in a brushless design. I did try with a 130 cfm almost silent fan however I did not like the output. that fan can be seen in the picture against the wall and may use it to promote better air circulation behind the boat fridge to improve efficiency. The fan I chose produces the equivalent or better than the typical Marine inline blower. I doubt I will ever need to change a fan however they are easily replaced by just removing the stainless screws holding it all together. I would say about half the noise of your typical blower, probably less. Will evaluate once installed in the boat and functioning. Have not finished the attachment bracket yet, basically a piece of thin aluminum angle, once again inspired from the BadAss model OR I may just use a piece of hanger strap which will do the job as well but not look as nice.

Used Stainless Steel M4 x 16mm nut and bolt assembly x 8 with washers/lockwashers. total cost for 1 unit for all materials was about $35 CDN.

I call this the "Badder than BadAss MidnightSun Special" or BBMS if you prefer :-D

i'm sure these will work well for a fridge boost fan, but for a bilge blower, not so much.
Once you put any type of ducking to or from them them the air flow will drop from 200 cfm to to almost zero.
Bilge blowers are noisy, because they can move air and over come the high static pressure of the flexible duct.

I thought of that also however the amount of air this thing moves is rather substantial. I do know the output will change but I do not see much being lost in fact maybe even unnoticeable. In my application all 4 blowers have about a 3' straight run and blow directly into the bilge. I will only need 1 hose adapter and not 2 like shown in my pictures. May get to try it out today as we have a planned trip to the boat this morning.

This clip will give you an idea of how much air this unit can push. Far from you average little computer fan that puts out a slight breeze. Heck, may even have a Tesla motor in there. :-D https://www.amazon.ca/images/I/61A6Xk5IvnS.mp4

The only thing that matters besides moving air, is whether it will be a red flag on the next survey for not being a marine rated unit. Curious to see if that becomes an issue later. Cool project otherwise.

Had time to put 2 of them in. They are not silent but at least 75% less noise than the originals. When the hatches are closed, NADA. Works great, I would say about 80% as powerful as the original units. More than enough. Very pleased with the outcome.
