Logo/emblems, table and locks

Postby Phrancus » January 31st, 2021, 12:42 pm

last week I sprayed some impossible to pronounce chemical (but bio degradable so the world is not degrading faster) on our hull and the yellowish 'mustache' disappeared. Leaving a nice white hull. Quite surprised and happy of course, the renovation will take lots of work on polishing and such but I now see an end to this and we will have a nice white shiny boat in the end.

Which brings me to my question: are the 'Carver' logo's digitally available? I mean the old ones, (my boat is from 1992). They seem quite simple as far as the font goes but before I start a noob-to-over-the-top course in creating a digital version i thought I'd better ask here first.

Searching accross the web I have collected a number of pictures of various lay-outs, design solutions and details.

Questions that arose:

- I found a picture with a latch on the sliding door (280 sedan/26 command bridge) with a lock. I don't have a lock at all, would like one. Would this be a simple swap but can I acquire one? Are there salvage boats where parts can be found? Or new perhaps even?

- the shower thingy in the back is worn and damaged, is this a certain brand that still exists? The common chinese options are totally differently dimensioned so are a difficult solution.

- The power and fwd/reverse handles seem upside down on my bridge, pictures of setups welcome. Also the 'quarter moon' dashboard parts on either side of the center 'pod' are damaged in mine, what was there originally? tips and pics welcome.

- my dining table was probably once pushed over with force, leaving the plastic parts in the table and in the floor in pieces. I do have the aluminium pipes but the table is not steady any more. Is this a common problem, are there known solutions?

Before one advises to contact Carver and get all the information I can ever think of to ask; they don't react to my short email through their website and calling them is not that easy from the other side of the world and thus timezone as owner of an old carver through which they're not likely to make money any more.

I very much appreciate any information, it's an interesting journey to undertake and when I get a bit more momentum (it's winter over here now) I can start a blog if people are interested.

If the customer service staff at Carver is getting your email, they will respond. They do not worry about making money, but they are very sensitive to support Carver owners. You may be experiencing a delay, only because they are down to a skeleton crew right now. It is winter here also. In addition to this forum, I would suggest you just send an email from your browser using their email address instead of the link provided in their online page. Try jeffbroder@marquisyachts.com There may be some sort of security firewall set up due to your location. I doubt your handles are upside down, don't think that is possible to attach to control unit. Those quarter moon plates may have been blank. The dashboard was used in several models, some with more gauge requirements. I believe the shower thingy is a Perko brand part. Try searching that brand. Good luck. 8-) er

I assume there would be a local decal shop that could reproduce the Carver logos. As long as you have color and size, shop should be able to replicate.

Here is my dash:

and this is what I came accross:

Thanks for the PERKO tip, no shower ther but I think I recognise the main battery switches. Also a thing to figure out as I have 3 banks, one is missing, and a battery watch plus charger controller which didn't work any more.

The logo: I'd like to have the side logo's made out of aluminium (CNC) so was hoping to find a digital version to get started with. Haven't looked at them closely if thei can be taken off without damage though. It may be simpeler than I imagine.

I'll follow on the email tip, thank you, is he an ex Carver person? That domain shows a futuristic Toyota :-D

Sorry, must have that email address wrong. Yes, Jeff is an employee at Carver. At least he was as of last August. Try this contact point, https://www.marquisyachts.com/contact-us/ Carver is part of Marquis so just ask this contact to forward your request to a Carver customer service person, and tell them you need to communicate via email due to your location. Give them your model info and hull #. They are all located in Pulaski WI, about 12 miles from where I live. The shower connection is most likely a Shurflo, not a Perko. Google SHURflo and you may see your wash down connection or something close. You're right, your control levers do look upside down, but it is the whole assembly, not just the handles. My 330 has the levers in the position like pic #2. 8-) er

Those remote handles can be used either way. Some prefer swept forward, some prefer swept back. I find that the more vertical the remote is mounted, the better it is to have them sweep forward. When they are mounted more horizontally, I find them easier to handle with the arms swept back.

Yea, I was thinking that would be the case. Looks like those transmisson handles could be a tripping hazard in that position. Eliminates the option of standing to manuever. But, no difference in function of cables. 8-) er
