Aft Deck panel spacers

Postby tonyiiiafl » September 16th, 2023, 5:54 pm

1994 Carver 390. On aft upper deck we have polycarbonate panels around the sides. There are spacers between the panels and the railing held on by Plastic type rivets. We had damage during Hurricane Lee. REAL damage. The wind blew all of 23 KTS, and it popped off TWO, yes TWO of the rivets. Sadly the white spacers, round, about 1.25” flat on one side, half moon to fit around the rail on other side. I have seen the rivets, but have not seen the spacers. Any ideas of where?

All seriousness, hurricane was a total bust, thank all who can control it!

Thanks for any help!

Best,

Tony

There have been a few discussions on here about those rivet and spacer systems. Might poke around with the search with various terms to see if you can find them. IIRC there were some suggested options to replace the plastic rivets, which everyone seemed to think were a weak link.

My suggestion would be to find someone with a 3D printer and have some made up out of white PVC. Quite easily done however a good one to make a drawing from would be required. If you send me one or have someone draw one up in CAD (best solution), I can make a few up for you this winter when no one is in a rush. Just cover my shipping costs. ;-)

Hans, That is so nice of you. I can send one if you are game to make me say 6. Just send me a message as to the address we are hauling in 3 weeks and I can send one for you to use at your leisure.

Best,

Tony

Is white the the right color for you or would you prefer black? Once drawn up I will post the 3D file in STL format for anyone with a printer to use.

Im glad your doing okay after lee. As far as the plastic rivets I have replaced many of mine with stainless screws and plastic trim covers. I'm not relying on these cheap rivets anymore. As you probably know or have read on the forum if one of these panels turns up missing exact replacement/color is not happening. You might consider other options for remounting yout panels. Just saying....

I used stainless screws with acorn nuts. Always open to other ways
