Hey all! This is probably a very stupid question, but I searched the forums and didn't find an answer. I just took possession of a 1988 Carver 3807! I'm both excited and terrified fort he adventures to come! Right now, though, I can't for the life of me find the switch for the two lights in the stern seating area, above the aft cabin, behind the upper helm. I see two lights in the hard roof there, but can't figure out how to turn them on.

Thanks in advance for any al all hints!!

Mark

Mine has two push buttons to the top right corner of the wet bar. One is for the light inside the wet bar and the other is for the hardtop lights.

If you've tried all the switches you could find (and the ones suggested), you might check to see if the bulbs are just burned out. You could replace them with some LEDs pretty easily if that's the case.

Thanks. I don't have a wet bar, but in the place you describe, there is a button labeled "CKPT LTS". Pressing it doesn't seem to do anything, but the sun is pretty bright right now. I'll try again when it's darker. There are also two switches inside the salon, at the top of the stairs down to the galley that I haven't figured out. Perhaps it's one of those?

Good point! I'll give that a try!

Also could check there's no breaker/switch for them in the electric panel that may be turned off.

yep...check breakers first, then pull bulbs and check with a tester to make sure you have power at the fixture. Have power? Replace bulbs with LED equivalents. I replaced all of mine a couple years ago. About 1/10 the power draw and heat output is way less than the halogens you have now.

On mine, the ones on starboard side of the stairs leading into the cabin are for the cabin ceiling light fixtures and the florescent lights over the side windows. The guys are right about the LEDS, I replaced all of mine a couple of years ago including the old rope lights around the base of the bed and overhead in the aft cabin. Same with the florescent lights at the dining area, closets, v-berth, pantry, etc. I got warm white for the cabins and cockpit including courtesy lights, and cool white for closets, heads, showers, and pantry. Also converted the radar arch lights to LED. Love them.

For the hardtop ceiling lights, look inside the rope locker on the starboard side of the salon entrance. Duck down...they are way at the top inside.

In my '92, the switches inside the salon door are for the salon ceiling lights and the LED step courtesy lights,

Hey all, sorry for not posting in a while, but I eventually figured it out. Unfortunately, I don't recall which step it was that fixed it.
