Transducer?

Yes sir that makes total sense that the 1993 ducers may not be up to Garmin 1243 SXV "par". LOL

So! next question.....drum roll.....Can the existing transducer "mount" that goes thru the hull currently be retrofitted to a modern transducer or does any manufacturer make a unit for this purpose?

From the pics, your fairing blocks look to be wood. If that's the case, ditch the old fairing block and order one from Garmin designed for the ducer you're getting. It'll be a composite material instead of wood.
