depth gauge not working, not displaying anything

Hi all, hope some one else have not posted this question, as my search came back empty. I recently purchased my 2000 carver 356 aft cabin. As I am getting more familiar with it I am finding out some minor issues. latest one is the depth gauge is not working. It was fine when we purchased it. After purchasing we docked it for about 3 weeks. When purchased, the boat was off water and bottom was painted before we signed the papers. So my question is, is it possible stuff formed under the boat at dock that's causing the dept gauge to not show anything? or is there some switch that I am missing? or fuse hidden somewhere? loose cable? if so where would that be located in the hull? I just remember when the engine started it went on first time 3 weeks ago. But now starting the engine shows no life in the unit. No lights, no displays. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'd be looking for a switch or a fuse.

My first question is, what kind of gauge are we talking about. Have a DVD 70 Garmin. Having the same issue Garmin has sent a software up date. It was to solve my problem thus far hasn't done so.

The depth gauge on our 355 is tied to a spare helm switch, the spare switch has to be on to power the depth gauge.

Thanks for the reply. I will check when I get back to it, most likely this weekend. I believe it is built in unit. circle about 2.5 inches. only shows dept. I did not see any fuse (under steps as you enter into cabin). There are no spare switches in the cabin. Although now I recall there are some switches labeled spare I believe up on top where the depth gauge is. I will take another look at those.

Not sure about the 356, but my 355 operates off a "spare" switch on the dash. Also breakers for all helm equipment under the seat in front of the helm.
