Thinking getting a set of those wireless headsets to communicate while docking /anchoring etc. They look to be very useful....anyone got any experience with one brand vs another....the floor is open......thanks in advance....

The admiral and I are currently using the UL3s Eartecs with an extra charging base. So far they seem to work well. A little pricey but way cheaper the a divorce or worse no more boating!

Bud - great Xmas gift to your admiral. I would suggest going to a Best Buy or a communication equip vendor and try some on. If the admiral isn't comfortable with the fit, you might as well be talking to yourself, because you will be. Light weight is good, but sometimes gets blown around in wind when you really need them. You can also experience sound quality better that way. Those Eartecs Sadey suggested are really nice. Less than the cost of even one good hull scratch.

Assuming you both have Bluetooth enabled cell phones, you can get Bluetooth headsets that will accomplish the same thing. When you are coming into a docking situation, just call the admiral on the phone. Bluetooth headsets are a lot cheaper than what you are thinking about.

Can you expand on this a little, does the phone have to be on you......sorry I am a bit of an idiot when it comes to this......have a hard enough time answering the phone properly.....

I have looked at the eartec ultralites....so far.

It doesn't have to be on you, but you need the phone in your hand to make the call. I'm no expert, but maybe there is a voice activated headset that will allow you to not have the phone on you.
If I'm on the bridge, I can call my wife and we can communicate with our phones hands free and that is the whole point of using the blue tooth headset.

We have the Eartec UL2S headset and have been very satisfied. The batteries drain too quickly, but as long as you leave them on the charger after use, it's not a problem.
I may buy spare batteries to avoid problems.
