Rear view camera

Good Morning All,
Has anybody mounted a rear view camera in the cockpit area? I was just curious. It seems like a good idea. You could watch the fishing poles and when you back into the slip, it may assist in your vision there.
Thanks,
Steve

I have thought about it but couldn't decide where to put the monitor. For now I have the Admiral stand in the cockpit and yell at me, she seems to enjoy that. :captain2:

That's funny! I have not really thought it out too much. My bigger reason is I know how much kids will doze off instead of watching the fishing poles.

Years ago we had shirts made up. Her's said "Stop yelling at me!" and mine said "I'm not yelling!".

I've been wanting to do this on my boat to see my SeaDoo being towed while underway. We tow that thing all over the place and I'm always worried that its going to break free or capsize, etc. I've been looking at IP cameras where I could mount an ipad at the helm to see the video....haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Depending on what radar / screen you have, you may be able to buy an accessory board that allows you to monitor multiple cameras.

I actually don't have a chart plotter at all. I'm on a large lake and can get away with using Navionics on my ipad to keep away from the shallows. I have an extra, older ipad that's waiting to be put back in service as a rear camera viewer. :-)

I have one that I can use to watch the engine room or a rear view. Thinking about I realize that I never use it when backing in the slip. It's about a 5 inch screen and I'd have to take too much time to "study" the image and in that time something bad could happen. Maybe I'll start trying harder to use it and provide more feedback if u are still interested.

The easiest solution is to use a GoPro streamed to an Ipad.

I thought about this because I want a GoPro camera for action video at the lake anyway. Unfortunately I haven't seen any options for night support like you can get with a traditional camera. I tow my PWC at night sometimes and that's when I need the rear view image the most.

Still, a very cool and affordable solution!!
