Cored hull?

I was just gifted a new Ray CHIRP module side scan CP200 that wil work with my e series displays, Light House 2 software. I have an air ar thru hull transduer A A66091. I am looking for a zCHIRP transducer, preferably a shoot thru hull type. All the ones I have seen are for cored hulls. I believe my 1994 390CPMY is a solid glass hull? I know the stringers are hollow composite. Any ideas?
Has anyone used the transom mount transducers? Not a lot of room there where it could be mounted with not interference from teh wash/wake?

Don't use transom mount, they're not ideal for inboard applications. Are you sure the in-hull ones you've seen are for cored hulls? Usually they prefer you remove the core for those. Has something changed recently?

I am doing more research. From what I even saw only one transducer is compatible with the CP200. Many others are good for the CP100, 300 and 350.
I am digging in.

I'm not aware of any shoot-though-the-hull transducers that can work with a cored hull. If you're seeing that somewhere please post the links so I can follow up on it.

I get a great result at all speeds withe the TM. If you want to see a video, I can make one on my next outing.

I've attended Garmin, Raymarine, and Furuno training and seminars on Airmar product and the recommendations/consensus are that transom mount units are "not ideal" for inboard applications. They are best for outboard and sterndrive applications. That's not to say they won't work under the right conditions and a careful installation on inboards but the preference for inboards is the thru-hull, in-hull designs. Where practical, you could even take an appropriate transom mounted design and epoxy it inside the bilge on some applications, depends on the unit.

If you want to find out if it works as shoot thru......just pick your spot following the guidelines , put the ducer in zip lock bag full of water and put in contact with the hull, see if you get a good result.
FYI.....I have epoxied a lowrance wide angle transducer to the inside of a cored hull and it worked just fine. The above is the method I used to find a good spot first.....good luck.

I second this method. I’ve secured more than a few transom mount transducers with clear silicone adhesive to the bottom of the bilge and got accurate readings for depth. Water temp readings will be close enough for government work.
