I purchased this carver 280 sedan and found a white box on the front of the flybridge that says "lowrance" on it. It seems to be to small to be any kind of radar.... the fishfinder that was with it is a "lowrance global map 1000" since replaced by a garmin. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone had any answers thanks.

I would guess that it's a GPS antenna. I'm thinking the "global map 1000" is a plotter, or has plotter functions in it.

What's the cable and connector look like?

My guess would be a GPS antenna.
Find the model number on the unit on the dash, search the Lowrance site for that unit, and look to see the picture of the antenna, just to be sure

Yes, that is a GPS antenna. In the late 90's, most GPS units operated with an external antenna. Depending on the Garmin model you have, it most likely has an antenna built into the unit. The Garmin unit might have a connection point for an external antenna, but I am not sure if that Lowrance model would be compatible. Check to see if the Garmin unit has this antenna connected to it. Might be causing the Garmin to act funky, or may be working fine. Welcome and good luck!
