MY electrical cord for the 3 unit -A/C - Heaters keeps getting hot and tripping the shore breaker. I am told the 30 amps is barely enough to operate the 3 units is the problem. Any suggestions on a solution?

Correct. 30 amps is generally not enough for three AC units. Add water heater or a coffee maker and you are going to trip breakers continuously. And there are some marinas connections where you are receiving less than full voltage. First solution is to use two shore power cords, as are available on your vessel.

best regards,

We do use both cords, but 1 cord is designated to the 3 units. We never have an issue with the other cord which is for all other electrical needs on the boat.

Replace your cord or the ends as it's likely they've heated up due to poor connections causing higher amperage draws. Also check the outlet at the dockside pedestal and that inlet on the vessel. If there is any discolouration around any of the contacts, the plugs or cord need to be replaced. The key is a good tight connection to minimize heat. Loose/poor connections will generate heat and higher amperage draw. Check your ammeter on the electrical panel, when running properly, the 3 units should not be drawing 30 amps, providing all connections are good as mentioned before. This includes all the connections on that circuit on board too!

what are your electrical panels rated for? whats the rated main breaker for the side with the 3 ac units? my carver 405 has 3 ac units on one cord nothing else and 50amp services to each of the main electrical panels. not 30''s. could it be a previous owner changed to 30 amp cords or plugs to match what is available at the dock?
what size ac units do you have? you could have a couple of 16k units which by themselves run around 11-12 amps each while running plus what ever for the 3rd one and thats running current let alone start up current. depending what ac units you have it could be easy to trip a 30 amp breaker since your on the edge of its capacity or over .

I was going to suggest what g36 covers. My 3697 has 2 units with 30a service and if both start at the same time, the needle is jumping. My 4207 had 3 units and the boat was equipped with 2 50amp service sets.
If we ported somewhere with only 30amp pedestals, I could only run the aft and main cabin a/cs on the adapter.
