2001 Carver 444 AC

Postby Tomion » June 4th, 2018, 3:49 pm

Hello, All three of my AIr Condition units will not work. I have tripple checked everything. The CB are all good, boat has AC power on both lines. All other AC systems are working.

The AC units will not show anything on thermostat control units when power is selected. It appears as though they have no power to them. It has to be something in the power supply as all units are independent except for the water pump system?

Is this a new boat to you and they never worked or did they work at one time and just now stopped?
On your electric panel...do you have voltage and amp meters and are they showing voltage coming in?
What kind of power do you have? 2 x 30 amp or 1 x 50 amp?
If you have 2 x 30, Try swapping power cords at the dock to see what happens. Maybe you have a bad dock circuit.
Dumb question...are all three circuit breakers in the on position?

Also, on your main panel, you probably have 2 independent 120 volt circuits, each with their own main breaker and then sub breakers below them. Are the main breakers both turned on?

I have 2-30 amp lines both showing 120 volts. CB are on and all units wirkec perfectly.

I has to be a power issue but I cant figure it out. If I had an input power issue why would I have 120 showing on bith lines. I dont have a main CB just 4 breaker / switches that are all on.

Out of curiosity, run your generator and see if the ac units will work. Make sure all breakers are tuned on and that your panel is switched to generator mode for power source if yours requires manual switching between ship and shore. This will take everything associated with shore power out of the equation.

You definitely have a main breaker. Check around where your shore power cords plug into the boat. If it's like the 356, there's breakers near there.

As Viper suggests, try it with the generator on. There are relays that get flipped with the generator on and they may have bad contact on the shore power side.

I have breakers at shore power hookup which are on. Both AC lines show 120 volts. I have no main AC breaker on AC panel and all other AC componets are working. I ran generator and no change.

You may just have one sea water pump for all three, make sure it has power, reset all your 120 volt breakers on your shore #2 panel side and go from there. ....are there four breakers, one for the water pump, one forward, one salon and one aft all located together on your 120 volt panel. Just recovering some ground as that pump may need power for the rest to work.
Do you have the manual for this boat ?..
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Reset every AC breaker and system breaker and shore power lines and breakers and AC units came on. I must have missed something the first time around. I wass showing AC voltage on both lines. Still suspect an issue with the combined water system.

Now my forward AC is coming on and then tripping off showing a 6 in temp indicator. Must be some kind of a fault code?
