I am starting to get a slight odour on board, nothing major and unnoticeable when you are in the boat. This odour is upon entering the boat when arriving, definitely permeated or should I say starting to permeate sanitation hose.

Boat is going on 13 now so it is about time to swap some hoses while it is still not an issue. Problem is there is probably 80 feet of this stuff snaked in the worst places imaginable and probably installed before the boat was put together so ease of installation is top priority.

I did a bunch of research and for ease of installation and bending radius not to mention 10 year warranty on permeation, I am going for Raritan Sani-Flex. Happens to be on sale now @ Defender. My regular Canadian supplier wants $37 CDN/ft. West Marine $19 US/ft, Defender is under $9 US/ft.

Anyone ever work with Sani-Flex and your thoughts before I dish out about $1000 in freakin hose. https://www.defender.com/product.jsp?id=3057989

If you have straight runs like I did in some spots I used hard pvc and where I couldn't i went back with good sani flex. Saved me some money . Just a thought.

I would do it all in hard PVC but there is really no place I could. Have to go with hose in this boat. Will definately try to use some PVC if I can when I actually do the install. How do you convert hard pvc to accept hose? Standard slip on 1 1/2" to 1 1/2" hose barb adapter? There is a special adaptor...they have 90's 45's and straight.....I actually have some left over, if we were close I would give to ya.....I will get a pic and the part numbers...

At least put the pvc pipe at the tank....my guess that is already like that in your boat....

Don’t want to question what you believe is going on in your boat and what is the source of the smell. I had a bit of an order update getting to the boat after a few days away and thought the same thing. I investigated the shower sumps and it was the cause of the issue, very similar smell.

I cleaned them and we started to put a deodorizer puck in the shower sumps. These pucks are commonly used in toilet tanks in your home. Seems to have done the trick for us, and there is no more sour smell when we arrive at the boat.

Thanks will double check but I do service my shower sumps at least every spring/fall so normally they are rather clean so to say. Will take the advice of a deodorizer puck though.

We used the trident odour safe stuff when we redid a previous boat, It was fine, fairly thick . No wire so easier to work with. I doubt you will get the hose you picked ( just noticed the hose ) over any barbed anything without out some divine intervention and invocations to your personal deities.
Also used a small exhaust pipe expander with hair dryer and dish soap , hose slips on easily then as it cools shrinks back to original , its on for good size.
If you go ahead with this I can post a pic of the expander.......good luck man.....

Contrary to what you assume, this hose was one of the easiest to install which also includes removal from fittings. Not that I believe everything I read so I will be the judge of this when I finally do install so yes I may need those expanders. Have plenty of experience with the regular white stiff stuff which as you know is a bitch to work with. Raritan Sani/Flex Odor Shield

Raritans Sani/Flex Odor Shield, permeation-free at 30 months, was the hands-down easiest hose to work with. The very flexible, butyl rubber hose was much easier to fit than any other tested hose. Were looking forward to gaining more field time with this product as it is certainly the most user-friendly in tight spaces.

Cleaning ease was average: It took some effort, but no stains remained.

Bottom line: Priced at $10.50 per foot, Odor Shield is a Recommended product.

Just my experience with hose with wire in it, it may be just fine though. Practical sailor was always a good reference source from what I remember from years back. I am not saying what to use just what we used and how it went....we did the entire boat, new tank and all.
