Blowers Suck!!

Blowers in general are noisy and bearings go bad after a few years. Is there anything out there that is not your standard el cheapo unit. These things are so poorly made I wonder how they allow them in a bilge. Have been searching for quite some time and have found this. Not sure if it is ignition protected but being for a diesel application in my case I do not care all that much. Thoughts? Suggestions?
Not exactly cheap at $60 but does look rather promising.

Good topic, wel timed. Today I thought of a solution for the foul diesel smell in the cabin coming from underneath the fuel tank. I can't access that area but I do have fuel lines and a bunch of thick power cables going through the wall from the tank area to the engine room (behind the water tank but that can be moved to a side) so I am considering creating an underpressure in the tank area by sucking air from there to the engine room. Very slightly only, and all the time. The boat is rarely without power (on shorepower or underway on engine power) and it does not need a lot of air to be moved.
Something like a computer ventilator, brushless and magnetic 'bearing' would suit my purpose.
Which is why I write this: perhaps there are brushless ventilators in the size you need as well.

And here is the Badass unit. Definitely seems to be way up there in terms of quality and build if the price reflects anything.

Squirrel cage types are much better units IMO. Pricier but they seem to last way longer. Same design used on AC units for example which are designed for continuous use. You'll find vintage boats running their original blower units after all these years. Of course having said that, they don't build things like they used to!

I replaced my original 10 year old fans with a similar type, and those lasted at least 19 more years when I sold the boat. I would frequently forget and leave them running while we were cruising, but normally turn them off once we got out of the no-wake area.

That's what I'm talking about. Just make sure you fasten everything down in the engine compartment Hans

Going to expriment a little. Will be using the 3d printer and print an adapter for 120mm brushless fan to 100mm hose. Will look like your typical inline boat blower when done. Total cost should be around $17 for the fan+ a couple dollars for the filament.
Should be almost dead silent which is the goal but will only produce 70cfm compared to what seems to be a standard 130cfm. In my case I have 4 blowers in the bilge and do not see any issue with a little less flow. As much as I hate to admit it, the existing ones are not even being used as they really create a racket, they drown out the sound of the generator.

Planning on hooking them all up to function either when engines are running or generator is in use. The huge vents on each side of the 41CMY really allow lots of air into the engine compartment. So much so that if it the wind is broadside it is actually windy in the bilge.

I know you have a diesel application but a non-marine rated blower might end up being a red flag on the next survey. You should call a surveyor and discuss.
