Hi. New to forum and hadn’t been able to find answer here or on you tube. How do I change out the seals and duckbill valves on the electric push button toilets for this model. Thanks in advance as I’m having problems holding water in toilet and some smells after returning over several days.

Hi if you have a vacuflush toilet and your head is not holding water you need to look at replacing the bowl gasket at the toilet first. . This gasket set keeps the water in the bowl......

If your having problems with creating enough vacuum or the system wont ever cut off you could look at changing these then . The duck bill valves are at the hose inlet and exits at the vacuflush vacuum generator. In my 405 aft cabin the generator is under the floor out side the entrance to the head. Yours would probably be close by also. Look under the hatches in bedroom.

As mentioned, depends on the type of head you have. Many models have rebuild kits you can buy off the shelf with all the parts and pieces you need. I used to have a Carver with the Raritan Crown model and I did rebuilds on both heads we had. If you are comfortable turning a wrench, it’s not a hard job to do. Just set aside an afternoon and follow instructions. Flush the unit well before working on it and probably a good idea to pump out as well.

Thanks guys for your help with the novice

. I wanted to identify what model I had as I’m unsure so I can order the parts. I also may consider total replacement from the noisy push button model I have. See attached photos.

That is a Raritan crown head i do believe. Parts are readily available, but not cheap. On your first pic, you see the impller section, inspect it well, if it has a hairline crack you need to replace it. If so, it may be cheaper to replace it with a jabsco or johnson.

Definitely a Raritan Crown head. Check the back where the large discharge hose comes out of the toilet. The fitting the hose is hooked up to is where the duckbill valve is. Remove the fitting and you'll see the valve. The entire cover comes off to expose the motor and toilet base. If it takes a while to pump lake water into the bowl, change the impeller while you're at it. It's in the pump in your first pic. There should also be a gasket under the pump cover plate which should be changed to prevent leaks. Careful here as the pump housing is plastic and may be brittle around the mounting screw holes.

Raritan Crowns are good units. Rebuild kits have all the parts needed to basically make it new again, except for the motor. I don’t recall if a new impeller comes in the kit, but as mentioned, best to change it as well.

BTW, the water pump impeller kit is G13W, comes with impeller, 2 gaskets, 2 Teflon washers, lubricant and instructions. The Joker valve (duckbill) is part C253.
