I am getting ready to replace the salon 16k A/C it works good just compressor getting loud. I know the units have a control box for pump and Tstat. However I have TWO and a ton of wires. Anyone else incur this mess and how did you replace with the newer 1 box units?

Tony, are you sure the compressor is getting louder? Maybe just the isolation pads under the unit have lost their flex. My aft cabin ac was louder than usual a couple weeks ago. To the point I had to investigate. I loosened the screws that held the unit to the plywood under the bed and all was well. I have some new isolation pads to install.
I would hate to see you replace a good running a/c for $10 worth of cork and rubber pads!

yes, it is getting louder. I removed the nuts that hold the compressor to the base and replaced rubber isolators, not much difference. SO, I got some 1” styrofoam insulati9on and glued it under the hatches. made a difference. I decided I am going to let it run until it gives out. I can deal with the noise now.

Well, that compressor is singing the songs of its people. V E R Y loud! I met with an AC guy, who is replacing it with a DOMETIC 16K unit this Tuesday or Wednesday. He said about 4.5 to 5 hours. How can he do it this quick is I guess he has done many. Was hoping to do next spring, but I guess now is better so I m good to go in peril. Pics to follow as he does this!

AND HERE SHE IS. THE AC GUY SURPRISED ME AND SHOWEDD UP THIS am, in and out in 4 hours. Better than I could ever do. Now I wait for the bill!

Let’s hope. Especially with one week left of the season. I opted to go with the dometic dtu turbo unit. A tad more expensive but a true beast. I don’t think I will have an issue next season cooling off the salon !!

Nice goin' Tony. So I have a question based on the last pic; why does it look like the tray drain hose isn't a straight run from the tray but might be looped up? Is it just me or does anybody else see the same thing? Or am I seeing two separate lines; one for the drain and the same type of line for the discharge?

Pic was a tad skewed. The drain is on the bottom, the one upper left is the water intake from the water pump. Have to do some cabinet work since the control panel is different, so stay tuned. We try it out tonight as it is our last week aboard and need to be ready for haul out Saturday.

Is this unit under the dinette? Mine is so wedged in there I can barely touch it. Both of ours are loud and on the list to replace at some point. The one under the master bed sounds like it's fueled by diesel. We have to cover the intake vent with pillows in order to get any sleep.
