Good morning,

We are looking to change the filter/cartridge to eliminate odor when flushing the head. Last thing to try, new head, new duck valve routine cleaning and pump out. We believe the holding tank is under the forward berth, assuming there must be a filter between head and holding tank. Could not find any information in the manual.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Most likely you will find no filter and if you did it would be on the vent hose going to the through hull. Not between head and tank. A filter can be made easily or purchased and installed if you like.

Now is the time to get to know your boat. Open up every bilge opening you have to see what it gives you access to. FYI, Carver is famous for putting access ports in hidden, out of the way places...under berths, inside cabinets, under stairs, underneath carpeting, etc. Find all bilge pumps and make sure they are in good working order. Find your thru hulls and attached strainers and figure out what each one is used for. Find your holding tank. Find your sump pump and it probably needs a good cleaning. Find your air conditioning water pump. Speaking of AC, clean your AC filters and vacuum the ductwork behind the filters. Find your onboard water pump for when you are not connected to shore water. I'm on my second Carver and had to replace water pumps on both. One wasn't too bad, but the other took the better part of 2 hours to replace.

Welcome to the forum. I second the no flex digester.

One of the reasons for the odor can be there is not enough air getting into the tank to break things down so to speak. Be sure the vent line is clear as a start and try not to have any odd chemicals put in the holding tank. Flush the tank a few times to get a good start. The no flex is a different product.
