I need to replacer the feshwater pump in a 1990 Marnier 320. The old pump is 5 amps and 30 PSI. Is there a risk in relpacing it with a 7.5 amp 50 PSI pump?

In reality, not likely an issue. You'll want to check the wire size going to the pump, and any fuse/breakers and make sure they are appropriate for the new pump. Your potable water system should be good to well over 50PSI, as you could likely get that kind of pressure if you were hooked to shore water. However you should keep an eye out for leaks once the new system is installed and running. And most pumps have an adjustable pressure setting too, sometimes just with an Allen wrench.

One thing you need to be aware of…with the higher pressure, you are more likely to use the system at that higher pressure which means you will drain your tank quicker. Just a head’s up.

And yes, make sure your wiring and any fuses can handle the higher amperage.

Doesn't affect the onboard fresh water pump side but a little extra info.....Many times you will find your shore water connection on the boat has a pressure regulator built in, so you will only see that pressure when on shore water. The spec is usually on the back.....maybe from 45 or so to just over 60psi.
