I need to replace the heat pump changeover Switch. The type and model is a Ranco C17-229-00. I know this model is no longer made so I have to find old stock. Does anyone have experience replacing this with a model that is available? I have read that the C17-100-070 will work.
And if anyone knows where to get the original C17-229-00 I would be forever grateful
Thanks

I dont think you should stress out too much to find the exact thermostat a equivalent one would work. I found some info and I would give one of the companies listed or someone like coastal climate a call. On my trojan i ended up replacing mine with a digital control and felt it was money well spent. This oem is a bulb type thermostat widely in use still. Just need to be in the heat/cool range for ac. . The Ranco C17-229 (often listed as C17-0229) is a specialized mechanical thermostat, and a direct replacement can be found through industrial HVAC suppliers. It is part of the Ranco C17 series, which includes other models like the C17-9026-00 available at ptacsolutions.com, often used in ClimateMaster or similar PTAC/commercial applications.

Replacement Source: Neuco Inc. lists the C17-229.
Alternative/Similar Models: Other C17 series models, such as the C17-100 (26" capillary, 2 SPDT switches) or C17-9026-00, are used in similar, but not necessarily identical, HVAC applications.

I'm not so interested in the bulb just being able to change from cool to heat. I think the C17-100 should work as it has the same amount of connections as it is a DPDT switch. It would be nice to OEM but that seems impossible. I have a C17-100 on the way and I will let the forum know how this goes as I'm sure others are or will will be dealing with same problem in the future
