This thread was a good reminder for me to get a "just in case spare" available to me. My keys basically are hidden at my boat so every time I show up I just dig them out, unlock the cabin and I am good to go. I have another full spare set inside the boat also. It has happened that I locked the boat down and when I got home I realized I had put the keys in my pocket as opposed to their secure place.

Got me thinking, what would happen if I forgot them at home and drove 2 hrs out to the boat!!
Yesterday I took a spare cabin door key and put a dab of silicone on the head, used some electrical tape to hold it in place until the silicone set. The key is now secure for many years in a place I can get to at the boat without entering the cabin for that just in case time. Bottom line is it is a backup for the backup set.
