Salon light dimmer

Postby Essej » May 18th, 2024, 12:10 pm

Hello Everyone,

New to the forum and Carver...

I have been given the project of upgrading almost everything on a 2007 56 Voyager. So far I have upgraded all the navigation (Garmin), Radar, auto pilot, TVs (5), sound bars, speakers, woofers and AV sound processor, Main radio and remote radio, Starlink, NEMA2000 network and Garmin marine network, onboard WIFI and cordless land line phones.

That being said, now comes the hard part that I cannot find any info on. Finding the OEM dimmer :banghead:

I need to change all the OEM interior lights and I am now looking at the OEM dimmer with the up and down buttons. It has three gray cables. I have new dimmers that replace the existing ones, but I cannot find where the OEM dimmer module is.

Can anyone help guide me to where I should be looking for it? Is it Posible that the dimmer is in the two rocker switches on the wall?
Regards,
Jesse

You may want to try greatlakesskipper.com They have a lot of Carver OEM parts. Look under the OEM boat parts tab. They have a lot of Carver parts. Hope it helps! 8-) er

Thanks for the reply Cooler. I have the new lights and the new dimmer switch already. What I am having an issue with is whether the OEM dimmer is built into the factory wall switch with the up and down buttons or is it another component between the switch and the lights.

On the DC schematic it just shows what looks like an on/off switch going to the salon lights. It also shows the cables going to the lights are yellow (-) and blue (+) but I have three grey wires coming out of the wall switch.

My 2009 44 Sojourn is located behind the DC power panel. You have to take the screws out and lower it down (bottom is hinged on mine).

Thank you Rocketman! I will be back at the marina tomorrow and will take a look. Is there a name brand or something specific on the dimmer I should look for to identify it?

Mine is a little green and white rectangular block that has the wires going into it. You should be able to trace the wires from your breaker. It is kind of obvious when you look back in there.
