On the electrical panel of my 1994 390 CPMY there are two diodes that light up or blink. on each 30A Carling breaker, They appear to run from ground to neutral. The diodes are about teh size of a dime and as stated, they are clamped in with the breaker screws that hold the wires to the breaker. Any idea of a source for these or what they are called or a part number?

Those are the "reverse current indicators" and light if you run into a situation where the "hot" and "neutral" lines have been reversed. Normally there should be NO voltage on the "neutral" line and it's purpose is to return the current that was sent on the "Hot" line. If there's voltage on the "Neutral", then it will travel through the "reverse current indicator" to the GROUND wire, and cause the "reverse current indicator" to light up. That's a dangerous condition. Sometimes it's tied into the main breakers which would cause them to trip, so as not to allow you to operate with that dangerous condition existing.

I am a bit more relieved and look forward to trying my own marina! We will see tomorrow

I had a marine electrician from an electronics store call me back. He aid it sounds like an open Neutral to him. He cant get here this week, but said to let me know when I am back in slip. I hope to charge batteries enough to keep bilge systems operating on the way trip back home of an hour.

Anyway, LAUNCH day!

I guess I got all worked up over nothing. Launched today, had to pull her up as the yard didn’t have the plug in tight enough. Engines fired right off with that 454 sound that parallels no other. Into gear, back out, use the Side Shifter to help me back out with the howling wind. NO canvas, that made it better. Moved her over to the work slip so the yard can finish their work, backed her in on second shot and tied off. Then the moment of truth THE SHORE POWER! Connected all up with breaker at pedestal off and boat off. Turned on teh pedestal, I get blue lights (good) at end of cord……I flip on shore #1…..115 Volts! I flip on shore #2…..115V. All is well. I guess I got worked up for nothing as that shore outlet on the pole just didn’t play nice with the HOLODECK. nd she sits for a few days until the ride home.

That's great news! Hoping that you get good weather for the ride back! Those early spring and late fall runs can be the most relaxing on the water as they're not a lot of nuisance traffic running around out there!
