Starboard bilge blower replacement

Postby waybomb » May 27th, 2017, 5:11 pm

Thank goodness my wife is a size 8.

Starboard bilge blower went out.
It's right next to the genny fuel tank, forward of the engine.

No way I could get at it from the engine room.

So from the cabin unscrewed the compartment that hold the shore power / genny relays.

From there I was able to remove the old one.

Of course, the screw holes are different on the new one.

So had to get the wife to climb over the engine and transmission and the two of us were able to get the job done. It's good she's a handy mechanically minded woman.
Thanks
Fred

I'm a big ole boy... (6.2 260/270 depending on who I'm lying to) and I"ve been able to get to anything that I've had to work on in the engine room, with the exception of one thing. I got in and changed all 4 of the blowers to squirrel cage type (quieter) and all the purasan setup. I've changed impellers on the mains and the genny. I've changed a water flow sensor. I've replaced a macerator pump. Changed batteries, added sensors, pulled and flushed the heat exchanger on the genny. The only thing I had to send my wife after (shorter 5.2 and I dman sure know not to post her weight!) was rebuilding the vacuflush box. She got in there, pulled the motor and the duckbills handed it to me and I replaced the bellows, handed it back and she reinstalled it. To this day, she reminds me that she really thinks I could have gotten in there if I tried a bit harder... I'm really sure I couldn't.

CaptBob - she's a keeper! Wise man once said - secret to a happy marriage is to marry someone better than you in every way... but that doesn't rub it in!
