I will be installing an Aluminum standpipe davit on the hardtop of the aft deck on my Carver 445 shortly. I intend to lift a West Marine RIB ( 130 lbs ) along with a Mercury 6 hp ( 60 lbs ). I plan to use a 12v winch with 2000 pulling/600 lbs lifting capability. Any advice/wisdom would be gratefully received.

Are you mounting a structural beam through the hardtop and into the aft deck salon? That is a lot of a bending moment on the davits base mounting...

Lyndon, yes I intend to mount the base of the standpipe onto the aft deck 'floor', either by screwing it in or if necessary bolting it through into the aft stateroom ceiling. The base was supplied by the manufacturer and is a 'snug' fit with the vertical aluminum pole.

Can you provide the manufacturer link or davit details? I looked at getting a Freedom lift but my swim platform is to big so am currently using the Towdster setup.

Lyndon,
Manufacturer is KATO out of Annapolis, if you go on their website you'll see a variety of davits and under standpipe davits you can see photographs of various installations. The davit has max capacity of 400 lbs and costs around $3500 + shipping, The KATO crew were superbly helpful.

Thanks, will do that. We are still dealing with a weak dollar here, so I'll keep my eye on it!
