My Carver 1988 3807 interior woodwork needs a refreshing. Does anyone have recommendations on the proper finish to use and process/procedures?

Thanks!

I had a 1986 3207 with a lot of teak inside. I would put teak oil on it and it would bring it back like new. Put it on with a rag and then let it sit. Wipe off the excess after with another rag.

I wouldn't varnish the teak on the inside of the boat, unless it has been varnished before.

Thanks Greg!

Exactly the kinda input I was hoping to receive. Oiling is way easier than what I was contemplating and something I can do on a regular basis. I had totally forgotten about the oil options.

Thanks again.

Welcome aboard Dale. Don't know about yours but my 3807 interior is varnished with mostly a satin finish so oil wouldn't work in my case. Pretty sure I recall a thread posting the actual product Carver used on a regular basis but I can't seem to find it  Maybe someone will have more luck than me.

I will have to verify, but im pretty certain carver used something called pour and wipe. for the finish on most boats interiors.

Welcome to the forum Dale......whatever you decide on using, be careful as some of this stuff is flammable so ventilate well.

Were you planning to sand all the wood then change the finish colors or just touch up ?

Oddly enough, the PO of my boat left a can of the stuff Carver provided at delivery. I still have it on board, empty, just serving as a reference. It is a pour & wipe type product, and I think it is the Mohawk product listed above. Different packaging, rectangle can. Will be going out to boat later today. I will check it and confirm. 8-) er

The interior teak looks good with oil, but looks great with varnish. There is a newer product called "lust" varnish that gives great results without a lot of effort.
