Spiral Stairs - the long and winding ......

Well, as I mentioned in the topic on spiral stairs, we bit the bullet and ordered a set for our 85 3607. I thought I would start a separate topic for our journey in attaching them. It took about 3 weeks from when we ordered to arrival. We unwrapped most of it on Friday night to see if we could figure out how they went together. There are no instructions!!! We were sent a photo to refer to. Went up to the boat on Saturday with great expectations!!! Sadly they were not met
We decided to start out by assembling the stairs on the ground. It took about an hour to get the bottom step on and aligned. Thankfully the other three stairs went on in about 5 minutes each. Next step was to remove the old ladder. What a chore that was. So, now we have a spiral stair case to nowhere and no ladder to the deck!! We have to now figure out how to remove the brackets that were holding the old ladder. The screws are just spinning. We assume that the brackets are maybe glued on as well as the screws. Any thoughts on how to remove them. Can't dry fit the new stairs until those have been removed. Won't get back to the boat for a couple of weeks so it will give us time to research that. As well as fixing the screw holes.
