Well, as I mentioned in the topic on spiral stairs, we bit the bullet and ordered a set for our 85 3607. I thought I would start a separate topic for our journey in attaching them. It took about 3 weeks from when we ordered to arrival. We unwrapped most of it on Friday night to see if we could figure out how they went together. There are no instructions!!! We were sent a photo to refer to. Went up to the boat on Saturday with great expectations!!! Sadly they were not met :-( We decided to start out by assembling the stairs on the ground. It took about an hour to get the bottom step on and aligned. Thankfully the other three stairs went on in about 5 minutes each. Next step was to remove the old ladder. What a chore that was. So, now we have a spiral stair case to nowhere and no ladder to the deck!! We have to now figure out how to remove the brackets that were holding the old ladder. The screws are just spinning. We assume that the brackets are maybe glued on as well as the screws. Any thoughts on how to remove them. Can't dry fit the new stairs until those have been removed. Won't get back to the boat for a couple of weeks so it will give us time to research that. As well as fixing the screw holes.

I think those brackets are through-bolted with backing plate inside. You might have to pull some of the carpeting off the walls. I think the lowest ones you can get to through the cabinet in the aft cabin ( port side) but the upper ones would probably require the carpet to be pulled away. You might be able to just cut a slit in it though, just to get to the nuts, and then use some carpet tape to put it back when complete.

Thanks for the input. That was our worst case scenario.

Just a quick update......the road got a little longer! Turns out that gravity works and I am now sporting a lovely sling on my right arm. Proximal fracture of the humerus~ Not very funny! Guess my role becomes a supervisor

Sorry to hear about your set back. Supervisor is not a bad thing. As I was told by an old Police Doctor, sometimes you have to ride in the Jeep and let others just do their thing. Stay well.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. Hope the recovery goes well. So you're the supervisor now and the responsibility for ensuring she's put back together before launch rests on your shoulders! Time to put your foot down....while you're supervising from your chair of course. ;-)
