1989 2357 fresh water pump

Postby jrides55 » September 16th, 2021, 7:57 pm

Hey, I just got the boat in the title and the PO messed up the waste water and fresh water plumbing, and the pump is bad. I can't read what model pump it is, but I can fix the plumbing. What is a good pump? It's a 25 gal waste tank and 10 gallon fresh tank. Thanks!

Ok, when you say waste tank, is it black water waste, gray water or both? Does your head use sea water for flushing or water from your fresh water tank?

We need some clarification. Are you talking about 1 or 2 pumps? I get the fresh water pump per the title but given you've mentioned the size of the waste tank too, are you also talking about a waste pump/overboard discharge pump/macerator?

For the size of the vessel, I would think a 2.9 or 3 GPM pump would do for the fresh water system. You don't want to get anything with a much higher current draw than what you already have as the wiring/circuit may not be capable of handling the extra load, so that's something you have to consider. Checking the rating on the pump breaker at the panel or fuse will help.

Sorry, I see the confusion. I'm looking just for the fresh water pump. The head does use sea water to flush as far as I can tell. But to answer the question about black or gray water... I assume black as it appears from the plumbing all waste would go into this tank. I'm mainly working on getting running water to the faucets currently. I hope that is helpful, and thank you!

Just a head's up....I would stick to a lower volume pump. With a higher volume pump, you can go through 10 gallons very quickly.

Back to your holding tank...you say all waste goes into it. Does that include sink water in addition to head waste?

3 GPM will work. If you want to make it a fresh water hook up. You will need a 12 volt solenoid valve to prevent back flow. You can hook this up to your electric flush button. This is a electrric Raratan head correct?

I appreciate all the feedback. I got some additional assistance from a dealer in my area and I think I've got the parts that I need ordered. Thanks!
