Found this while thinking of ways to improve my cooking situation on the boat. I had been very seriously considering putting in a newer electric stove until someone here pointed out the amperage. Since then I have been strongly considering installing a propane set-up, and still am, but this link does give food for thought.

If it weren't for the fact that my oven coil connections are rusted out on my Princess, I would really be thinking of installing this Mini Duo to refresh the galley with minimum cost.

I made the conversion to convection on my previous boat probably about 15 years ago and never looked back. One of the first things I did to the Carver when I got her. Really works well and cooks so much quicker on the limited 110v most of us have on board not to mention the precise temp control. Boiling water on one of these is as fast as a butane stove. It does require shore power/generator but without all the complexities of gas. We renovated our kitchen at home a few years ago, went to induction from gas, love it.

Personally I like the induction idea, having had experience with propane I would strongly caution its use on a boat because the gas is more dense than air and a leak will settle in low places and is extremely hard to vent correctly on a boat. Also too much vibration for joints and lines, just a bad idea in my considered opinion.

Sure there are boats with set ups, there will always be, but that does not change the facts of the gas itself and the correct install has many hoops to jump thru regulation wise........good luck with your refit..

What a beautiful conversion.

Our first Carver had propane and it worked very well. Our current boat has the electric three burner stove top. Hate it. We are currently using a portable butane camp stove. The previous owner had left an older induction burner but we never did figure out how to use it and couldn't find an owner's manual on line.
