Hi all. We are researching for a boat for our next adventure. This will be our journey on the Great Loop. We hope to start in September and are currently looking for a vessel to accomplish this.
Looking forward to all the wisdom we can get from the group as well as guidance from those that have "been there done that".

I haven't been there, done that, but I would say if you are looking at a Carver, or any planing hull, make sure you get the largest power option there is. I had a big Carver with abysmal power and the boat was not fun, especially in bad weather. And you will run into weather!

Kurt,

Let's start with a few basics. Budget, style (motor yacht/express), and experience boating.

Depending on how large you want to go I always thought the 440 Motor Yacht and the 500 CPMY would be the ideal boats.

We bought our 506 with the Great Loop in mind. Our first choice was a Silverton 453, but fell in love with the room of the 506 and the all-season enclosed pilothouse.

A good place to look for a good loop boat is the Great Loop Association

There are a few boats listed.
