Hello,
We just got out first boat!! It's a 1977 Carver Camper 2276. Where can I get an owner's manual? I have searched online and haven't found one yet.
I have a bunch of really dumb newbie questions I am trying to find the answers to, along with just learning more about our boat.
How do we drain the gray water? I don't know all of the switches on the control panel. Some are pretty self explanatory, some are not, at least not for a brand new boat owner like us. It is still sitting in our front yard, until we learn everything about it, then onto the water we go. Why are there 2 water fill ports? One on the bow and one on the starboard side? And more.
Thanks for any assistance!

Congrats on your new adventure and welcome to the forum! It's going to be pretty difficult to find a manual for a 77. I'm not sure how useful it would be any way. The odds that previous owners modified it heavily over the years are pretty high.

The only dumb questions are the ones that are never asked

When you say grey water are you referring to waste from the head? Black water would be head waste, grey water would be fresh water from the sink, shower etc. Sink/shower water probably goes directly overboard. Waste water probably goes to a holding tank and is either pumped overboard via a macerator (big no no these days... read up on the rules on this one) or via a dockside pump out station. If you don't have 2 water tanks one of those is probably for waste pump out and the cap was replaced by a previous owner.

Hello guys, and thanks for the responses. As for the manual, I was able to get a PDF copy from Carver themselves. It has been really helpful in general. Honestly, I didn't know what all of the switches were for, etc. I am still figuring out some things, as I haven't read all 91 pages of the manual yet - like how does the propeller angle up and down? As for the grey water - yeah, I am speaking of the water from the sinks. We are still figuring out if the black water has to be pumped out or if the unit comes out to dump. Our toy hauler has disposal tubes for black and gray water, so I guess that was what I was looking for. I have heard somewhere else that the gray probably just gets pumped straight overboard.
Reading the owners manual (it is for multiple models), I am not sure if it has 2 water tanks, or if a cap was replaced as you said. More research needed

I am really hoping to get it on the water VERY soon, but it is going slow.

Congrats on your purchase!
I have a 2276 myself I purchased a couple of years ago. I will try to help you out in any way I can or from what I have learned from operating mine.
The grey water does drain overboard, and on the water fill locations, mine has the same two and they both go to the fresh water tank in the bow. What was the web address of where you were able to get the operators PDF from. I still have a few questions about my boat I have not figured out yet. Maybe it will lead to someone who I can speak to about a few questions I have.
Let me know if I can help.
