Hi folks Jono from Aussieland all right can't spell Australia.
Went to USA June 2013 for 5 weeks, great country, met some great people there. Went back in Nov/Dec to buy a boat, traveled from LA to a John Denver song on the east coast (can't remember the song) drove back towards Houston to clearlake where we saw" 5 o"clock somewhere" then onto somewhere close to Sacramento to look at another 396 carver but she had 2 shot engines and they were 280hp they had hyped up the fuel pumps to perform. instead of 370s as advertised. Owners wouldn't come to repair agreement so I guess they still own the craft.
We purchased it's" 5'oclock Somewhere" and arranged local Houston people to do the mechanical and hull surveys.
The hull survey written report I quote "bilge pumps working , air conditioners working, engine oil removal system working, fuel transfer pump working.
Bilge pumps burnt out casings cracked wires cut, air conditioners seawater pump rusted out seized, engine oil removal system not working, fuel transfer pump not working.
Mechanical survey, written report both engines for age working all normal, port motor seized when arrived at Fremantle (port for Perth).
We have repaired all and put new clears and shade, still have to replace roof with new heavey weight canvas as black USA canvas too light, it leaks, happening soon. All good, craft is very well built with plenty of room for our needs and motors well in our seas. we love the craft it will be our last one as we are both 69.
Well thats all folks take care from Aussie John (Jono)
