Greetings all, I'm a blue water sailor who's swallowed the hook and am now looking to do "The Loop". I've been researching quite a few vessels and keep being drawn back to the Carver 4207. You'll have to forgive me as my mechanical aptitude consists of turning on "the Iron Sails"
I'll see you all no doubt in the forums, and, please be gentle, as I'll no doubt ask some really stupid questions.

We owned a 4207. And would buy another, but this time with 450+ hp diesels.
The gas engines do not allow the vessel to operate in a safe range. Can't handle big weather or seas well at all. That's why we sold it. After a number of years with that pig I went go fast, and then also bought the 36.
If we find a 4207 with big cats the 36 goes.
I had the pleasure of driving a 4207 repowered with 500 hp cats. It was a joy and made the boat have some soul.
Avoid a gas powered 4207
Just my 2 cents

Welcome aboard Rovic,
I agree with Fred; nice boat but it's big and over the limit for 454 gasers in my opinion.
Good luck with your search.

Rovic, a wise man once told me that the only stupid question is the one you don;t ask so fire away. Plenty of experience here with Carver boats. Lots of knowledge to draw from.
