Hello all!

My wife and I just paid for a 1982 Carver 3007 Aft Cabin and take delivery next weekend. We are brand new to the world of bigger boats. She grew up on Lake Erie and her dad has a 30' Sea Ray with a cuddy and I have had a couple smaller V hulls but we currently own a pontoon we bought new a few years ago and are excited to have an indoor space to spend more time out on or in the boat!

We know pretty much nothing about twin screw boats or anything that has to do with them but I'm mechanically sound enough we will learn quickly. Can't wait to get it out on the water and have some fun!

Welcome. We just bought our first aft cabin a few months ago. The wife and the grandkids love the interior and exterior space. especially when we get a rainy day. We had a bunch of express cruisers, and the wife was less than thrilled to spend more than a night or two on the boat. No problem with this one. She has it looking like a beach house.

Congrats on your first big boat. I have the same model different year as you soon will have. I purchased mine last year in August so I did not get much time to learn the boat. I have made some updates to mine. A new VHF a new GPS a new VHF antenna just to name a few.

In my case most of the boats I have owned were I/O's so I am learning how to handle inboards especially in windy conditions. Once I get the hang of it that will be a good thing.

Good luck with your 3007 Aft Cabin, I hope you will like yours as much as I like mine.

I just bought a 1994 390 CPMY and have used it once so far as we just took delivery 3 weeks ago. The room inside with that aft cabin is unbelievable! I have fallen in love, except for the many staircases. Good luck with her, she is a finely built vessel.

Pictures will be aplenty when we get it picked up and knowing my wife, it will only be a day or two before it looks exactly how she wants it.

Which GPS did you settle on? I will be using my Navionics app on my phone to navigate home the first day but am intending on a permanent unit in the boat. We will be driving down from Erie PA to Cleveland to bring the boat home.

I ended up with a Garmin echoMAP Chirp 94sv unit. It can multi task if you add the transducer so you can have depth sounding too. I wanted only a dedicated GPS so I ordered mine without the transducer. When I upgrade the depth sounder I want it to be a stand alone unit too.

I absolutely love the 9" screen and the detailing on the charting is fantastic. I paid $1049 + tax for mine. They do have a 7" unit also.

That is pretty much the exact setup I have been eye balling. I am thinking it will have to wait until next year. I use Navionics on my Iphone when we are out on our current boat, and am fairly impressed with it. Since you have the same boat model can I ask, is there a place to plug the phone in and charge it while underway and still be able to see the screen? I will be bringing the boat from Erie PA to Cleveland next weekend and will need something to help navigate and don't think I want to buy a cheap GPS when I plan on going with a nicer unit next year.
