Looking to potentially buy a 1988 Voyager 28. I know my surveyor will know what to look for, but what, as Carver owners, should I make sure he pokes around in and what questions should I ask?

I had an 88 Riviera.similar hull. Never had an issue of any sort.
Well built vessel.
Had twin 230/305s. Jumped up on plane on seconds.
With the keel it had, I'd set it on coarse and rarely had to make adjustments.
A little bit hard ride in a chop, but a nice driving boat

I have a 1987 2827 Voyager. Look for blisters and rotted stringers. Rear storage hatch by ladder can go bad. Engines need to be well maintained. The rear swim platform can be soft and it's small. I have seen a 28 Mariner with rotten stringers, year similar.
Stating all that....I absolutely love my Voyager.
It's a great boat that packs a lot into a small package.
I added new swim platform, portable AC Unit, new head, and new faucets. It's been extremely reliable.

Welcome to the forum...... Had an 83, we loved it.Great boat, huge bridge, transom door.room inside, economical and handled well around the docks.....I agree with the above, always check stringers, bulkheads and the bridge deck, bow pulpit area....check transom around the exhaust outlets , look on inside for leakage evidence at fastener holes if it has the davis underwater exhaust. I am sure your surveyor will pick up on things......good luck with it.
