New to Forum but long time boater
Gold Looper and multiple transits from Ohio to Fl etc.
Previously had aRegal 280,3207 Carver, Cruiser 3650 aft,(loop Boat) Cruiser 4450 aft, presently Cruiser 3670 for Lake Erie.
Looking at the Carver 500 Cockpit MY for a Florida and Bahamas boat.
Curious as to sea keeping abilities as the Cruiser 4450 was outstanding in all conditions.
We generally run 7-8 knots so rolling due to wakes and 2-3 ft waves are a concern. I would appreciate any feedback as to what I should expect as we are looking at 2 this week.
Fuel economy, true cruise speeds and fuel burn at cruise, top speed.
Slow speed, 7-8 knots fuel burn as well
Any of the Cummins to avoid or quirks in the 420 HP and 450 HP?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Cruiser.....if you don't mind a question...what was the deadrise on the 4450 you used for the loop and did you cross the gulf stream in it?I know you said sea keeping was outstanding, but was wondering if that applied to offshore as well ?

Deadrise is 16 degrees aft.
We spent 2 winters in the Bahamas with that boat. No issues with Gulf Stream ( no wind out of the North)
No issues with Gulf of Mexico when we took her from Sandusky, Oh to Ft. Pierce Fl and then having sold her delivered her to Galveston TX via Gulf of Mexico last year.
In the 3 years we had her we were full time live-aboard and logged probably over 14,000 miles. She saw 10-12's in Lake Michigan when we got caught in a rogue storm. In the Bahamas we had to ride out a storm for 20 hours so fierce that we couldn't see to move so that was on the hook! Came out of nowhere on a clear day! Very solid boat! Never a squeak.
We spend most of our time going 8-9 knots to conserve fuel so I am very conscious of "roll" at slow speed. I had a Carver 3207 that we liked but she rode hard in Lake Erie chop and now, retired, I'm into comfort and long distance travel.
I am looking at the 500 Cockpit as the next traveler but am concerned about the ride and roll at slow speed. Any input?

16 huh, I was thinking it might be like that.....honestly it sounds like you need to get that boat back.....I know this is Carver territory but I believe in an honest opinion.....If it were me with a few bucks it would be a fast trawler with stabilizers, roughly one level and big side decks., but that is just me.It is my understanding that a hull with a fairly flat aft section and wide resists the roll you are talking about but you lose the rough water stability of the bigger deadrise. Does that sound about right, at anchor is another issue.
Again hopefully someone with that hull will chime in soon, nice to hear your experience .....very interesting and informative....
