Hello all,
I am currently closing in on purchasing a 2001 444. Very excited and trying to learn all I can. I love most everything about this boat, it is a great fit for us. Does anyone have any idea what these 444's cost (roughly) when they were brand new? Thanks in advance!

The MSRP for the vessel was $335,500. That is the base model, so you would need to add any option packages to that. Go to Carver website to see what options were available, and what was standard equipment. Also, there would be a separate destination charge and dealer set up charge for getting the boat final prep and mounting top deck. Just check a dealer in the area for those two items on new boats currently. Deduct 15% from those current numbers as those costs are more now than they were in 2001. Here are links to sales brochure and spec sheet. Good luck and welcome to the group! 8-) er

Where did you find her? There are a lot of buyers looking for that particular model. Cummins or Volvo's? Be sure to get a survey done. Did you notice you are the first new member for 2020? 8-) er

Sorry for the repeat replies. Once you take ownership, call Carver and let them know you are the current owner. They like to have those logs up to date and you will know if they had any recalls or factory repairs on that specific vessel. Just give them the hull number. They have the actual build out log for that vessel. 8-) er

Thanks for all of the warm welcomes, great info and input. Much appreciated!

Twin Cummins, low hours, survey scheduled for Tuesday. The boat yard is going to hang it and once the survey gets to my insurance agent (barring anything major), we'll be ready to close. Found her in Alameda, CA. Lots of upgrades and super clean. Love the hard top over the helm.

Nice boat. Remember. almost everything was an option. Electric heads, ac/ genny, diesels, interior color package, windlass, etc. A boat is kind of like a Porsche. The base price is reasonable, but you can double that on options.
My 1998 355 had a sticker of 344k new with the "options", so I bet you were above 400k for the 444.

I've been looking at comps but there is nothing that comes close with the upgrades on this...almost felt like it was too much money but then I took into account low hours, adding some upgrades myself and was at the asking price before long. One of my favorite things is the synthetic teak on the decks. It takes the glare off and adds some depth.
