Gas transfer from aft tank to port/starboard tanks

New to us 1998 400 CMY. The aft gasoline tank is full and was wondering if there's a valve to turn on, so it distributes to the port and starboard tanks or is it automatic once they get low in level. The aft tank has been full for approx a year now, I'm concerned about 'old' gas if I don't burn it up..... Thanks in advance.

There is no way for manual or automatic transfer from tank to tank. You should have fuel tank selector switches one for each engine, most likely near the front of each engine towards the center of the boat on that model. They should read "port, starboard, aux"
Turn the selector so the pointer, not the handle points at the tank description you wish to run that particular engine from.
The Aux, is your aft tank.

Whst was stated is correct and no automatic . I have 2 aux tanks instead of 1 large one on my 405 and rotate my gas use with the valves so I have pretty fresh fuel all the time.

Interesting topic, on my 98' 405 I have the 3 fuel tank setup, with the 3rd tank being an Aft 142 gallon "Aux Tank". With a 12vdc breaker labeled "Fuel Transfer Pump" in the main electric panel. I've never seen a pump or any controls for it. I always figured that it was an option.

Hmmm. . . .

Here is the deal or at least how I understand it. You can transfer fuel from the main tank in either direction on my boat that is. Just push the fuel starboard and it goes to starboard or port to port. As for auxiliary tank/s I have 2. I cannot transfer fuel to these nor can I transfer fuel between them as I have 2. I can choose tho operate from main or aux tank from the manual selector valve on both starboard and port engines. I have already emptied my Aux tanks through usage and just switched over to the main tanks, will run these until I empty them and then fill both main and aux tanks to carry fresh full into the next season. Clears as mud. :-D

The fuel transfer option is only available on diesel boats.

Anytime I go somewhere, I run both engines on the aft (aux) tank to get there and run on my side tanks coming back home. Not only do I "rotate" my fuel, but I lighten the weight in the aft as I'm running.

That's a good plan so you don't end up with gas sitting in that aft tank. I'd only fill it if it was going on a trip and needed/wanted the extra range.
