New owners.
I have had some boating and sailing experience years ago. No experience with a 40 ft. Motoryacht.
Taking USCG captain’s course, and will be doing hands-on training soon.
Any advice and/or tips about boating, our Carver, or anything yachting related would be appreciated.

Hello.
My name is Paul.
My wife and I are in the process of purchasing a 2001 Carver 396 Motor Yacht.
I grew up in Miami and spent lots of time on the open water, snorkeling, working with wild dolphins and, eventually scuba diving in California.
Although, I have sailed 40’ sailboats and 25’ power boats, it has been years.
I am taking all necessary courses, including the USCG Certified Captains course. I will also be getting hands-on experience with a certified captain.
Any tips, advice about the boat and/or yachting, maintenance, deals, etc., would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome! Open water driving, no problem. Docking, slow is always too fast. Slow docking is your friend. You'll get used to it!!!!!! Congrats!
