Good morning, new member, 1st post. A few years into retirement and along w/my son, looking for a boat to share. My other son got into boating a couple of years ago and loves it, this will be a first for me. Going this Saturday to look at a Carver 3207 aft cabin. Family has owned it for the past 4 years, kids in sports is causing them to rethink boating and getting an RV for a few years till the kids get older. Got a copy of the 45 page survey that was done in August for the insurance company. It is an '82 and the survey did not suggest any major issues, I am a tinkerer... Boat comes w/a slip for the 2021 season, I checked out the marina and our slip a couple of days ago... We will see what Saturday brings. Looking forward to the forum and all the knowledge that it contains.

Choptop - where in WI are you? I am in Green Bay, but slip my boat 60 miles north in Menominee. Where is the slip located? I have 2 slip neighbors that have 3207's. I may be able to answer some questions you have, as I have been boating for 30+ years. Welcome to the forum. Good luck with your inspection. Be careful with the survey, it may be a "generous" survey if the surveyor was hired by the owner/broker.

Good morning Cooler, I am 20 minutes west of Menomonie, do the majority of my shopping their. If we get the boat, I am the financier,

, the slip will be in Prescot, 1 hour from me. We will see what Saturday brings ! The survey was for insurance purposes, not sure that it makes a difference but thanks for the possible biased scenario heads up.

An insurance survey is much more of a 'cursory' survey that just outlines/highlights significant risk items and establishes a value for insurance purposes. It is not something I'd use to value a boat for purchase but it might contain some interesting info. Plan on having your own survey done if you want to make an offer.
The 3207's can be great boats. Easy to single-hand if you need to and plenty of power to get up and go if you have the 350CI Crusaders. Pretty simple for most of the maintenance stuff too, as it has straight shafts.

Welcome to the forum....good luck on Saturday.....have a real good look....but get your own survey by an accredited surveyor. KM rightfully brings up the point of the insurance survey.
Ultimately it will come down to your comfort zone.....the real issues are usually not the pretty things..

All good advice here. The 3207's are great boats! Simple to work on, as long as you discover all the nooks & crannies for access. Extremely dependable. My neighbor at marina has one. It was on the hard for 10 years prior to his purchase 3 years ago. The only issue he has had with it is water pump impellers and some exhaust hose replacement. Go figure, after 10 years just sitting. He has Crusaders. Lot of cruising opportunities in Prescot! Hopefully the water level will be lower next season. Good luck!
